Stone Creek City for Summer Diary Project, and This Show is So Gay!

KimDavidsSmith-3509-Edit-1I recently had the pleasure of lounging in mid-morning daylight for the incredibly talented “Stone Creek City.” Titled “Stranger in Midtown,” and photographed anonymously by Stone Creek City, this photo set plays with light and shadow over the naked form, and is published online by the exquisite curatorial eye of Summer Diary Project.

I also had a fantastic chat over the airwaves with Ken Schneck for the wonderfully gay radio programme, “This Show Is So Gay.” Steam or download the full interview, and hear all about my perspectives on Kylie, Dannii Minogue, my pop-Weimar mashups, art modeling, and the importance of a good lower-body workout!

Kim David Smith Nominated for 2015 Helpmann Award!

I’m extremely proud and humbled to be nominated for a 2015 Helpmann Award! Nominated alongside cabaret legends David Campbell and Camille O’Sullivan in the Best Cabaret Performer category, I’m excited to salute my dear friends Chris Durling, Trevor Ashley, and Jenny Rivera for their nominations (Supporting Role in a Musical/Performer in an Opera), and also my idol and Australian icon, Kylie Minogue!

The Helpmann Awards, named in honour of Sir Robert Helpmann and to commemorate his memory and achievements, were established in 2001 by Live Performance Australia (LPA) to recognise, celebrate and promote Australia’s live performance industry, similar to the Tony Awards on Broadway and the Olivier Awards in London.

“He happily considers himself as a misfit, and goes about proving his point in several languages. There’s no one else around these days offering the kind of cabaret that he does so compellingly. Well, maybe Ute Lemper, but that’s it. Smith needs to be seen, and now.”
