Kim David Smith in Out Magazine / “The Art of Looking”

I’m very excited to be featured in the Out Magazine arts section this month, along with a slideshow of works by amazing artists and photographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past 12 months:

Including works by Lucas Ferrier, John MacConnell, Jordan Mejias, Rick Day, and many others, Out makes mention of my recent portrait sitting with the inimitable art collector and sensualist Charles Leslie, for “The Art of Looking,” a fabulous retrospective coffee table book showcasing the incredible collection of gay art (and art by gay artists) housed and celebrated by Leslie.
Also mentioned is the “Jealous” music video from my 2013 album, Nova. Keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming summer release, Supernova — a fabulous remix edition of Nova, to be accompanied by a brand new music video by brothers Kyle and Brendan Ranson-Walsh!

Kim David Smith sings Eartha Kitt, January 11, (le) Poisson Rouge!

Why Is Eartha Kitt Trying To Kill Me?I am very busily and excitedly putting together a sexy little show inspired by “the most exciting woman in the world,” as a collaboration with  American Lyric Theater in support of their new chamber opera “Why Is Eartha Kitt Trying To Kill Me?”

Acting as entrée to American Lyric Theater’s exciting presentation, my Eartha-inspired cabaret features new arrangements of classics from the Kitt catalogue, helmed and performed my myself, and the talented Mr. Benjamin Ickies (piano, accordion, synth).

$15, (le) Poisson Rouge, NYC, at 6PM, January 11 — Click through for tickets HERE!

“Why Is Eartha Kitt Trying To Kill Me?” is a new one-act opera by composer Jeffrey Dennis Smith and librettist David Johnston, based on Johnston’s one-act comic monodrama about a mysterious – and unlikely – murder suspect. A tour de force love story and mad scene all in one, join us as we dive into the heart and mind of a man with a singular showbiz obsession as he shares his bizarre confession concerning the fate of a hot young art world star.
