Stone Creek City for Summer Diary Project, and This Show is So Gay!

KimDavidsSmith-3509-Edit-1I recently had the pleasure of lounging in mid-morning daylight for the incredibly talented “Stone Creek City.” Titled “Stranger in Midtown,” and photographed anonymously by Stone Creek City, this photo set plays with light and shadow over the naked form, and is published online by the exquisite curatorial eye of Summer Diary Project.

KimDavidsSmith-3598-Edit-2Please click through to view the entire set, and don’t forget to follow Stone Creek City (@stonecreekcity), Summer Diary Project (@summerdiaryproject), and myself (@kimdavidsmith) on Instagram.

I also had a fantastic chat over the airwaves with Ken Schneck for the wonderfully gay radio programme, “This Show Is So Gay.” Steam or download the full interview, and hear all about my perspectives on Kylie, Dannii Minogue, my pop-Weimar mashups, art modeling, and the importance of a good lower-body workout!

Kim David Smith’s “Stargazing” at Joe’s Pub, October 8!

Directed by Michael Rader (Cirque du Soleil), with music direction by Benjamin Ickies, and costuming by Miodrag Guberini (Rebel Heart Tour, The Black Party), Stargazing is an intimately electronic reimagining of musical constellations formed from stars old and new, including Kurt Weill, Kylie Minogue, Friedrich Hollaender, Olivia Newton-John, Edith Piaf, Madonna, ME, and Marlene Dietrich.

“Completely stellar…slyly subversive.”

Will Friedwald, The Wall Street Journal, New York City

Along with repertoire spanning the 1920’s through to today, my own pop originals will be represented, with selections performed from my electropop albums “Nova” and “Supernova” (Ninthwave Records), and cabaret EP “The Tease.”

$16 cover. Please call (212) 967.7555 or visit www.joespub.com for reservations.

Kim David Smith in Out Magazine / “The Art of Looking”

I’m very excited to be featured in the Out Magazine arts section this month, along with a slideshow of works by amazing artists and photographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past 12 months:

“The Many Mediums of Kim David Smith”

Including works by Lucas Ferrier, John MacConnell, Jordan Mejias, Rick Day, and many others, Out makes mention of my recent portrait sitting with the inimitable art collector and sensualist Charles Leslie, for “The Art of Looking,” a fabulous retrospective coffee table book showcasing the incredible collection of gay art (and art by gay artists) housed and celebrated by Leslie.
Also mentioned is the “Jealous” music video from my 2013 album, Nova. Keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming summer release, Supernova — a fabulous remix edition of Nova, to be accompanied by a brand new music video by brothers Kyle and Brendan Ranson-Walsh!

“He happily considers himself as a misfit, and goes about proving his point in several languages. There’s no one else around these days offering the kind of cabaret that he does so compellingly. Well, maybe Ute Lemper, but that’s it. Smith needs to be seen, and now.”
