Conceived and created with Benjamin Ickies (House of Yes, This Ambitious Orchestra), “The Tease” will be performed live in The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge, alongside re-imagined works by Weimar-era composers, and modern-day artists alike, including: Friedrich Hollaender, Björk, the Supremes, Kylie Minogue, Hanns Eisler, and myriad glittering others. Featuring a full band accompaniment, Award-winning Australian performer Kim Smith charts a dark and whimsical path through a ruined, musical landscape of disfigured pop and peculiar period treasures with his debut cabaret EP recording (available in physical format post-show!).
Just in time for Halloween, we have let loose this seasonally appropriate, poptastic, dance-horror teaser of “Zombiez,” one of the tracks from my secret pop project! Remixed by Ricardo Autobahn (Night of the Living Dead Radio Edit), Zombiez has been given a classic horror setting, complete with the raging undead and hapless, tumbling maidens!
Taken from my forthcoming cabaret EP recording, French classic “Padam” is given a 90′s Trip-Hop transformation at the deft and magical hands of producer, Benjamin Ickies. Recorded at 3 Egg Studios, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 2012. Listen below!
After toiling all year in my secret pop-laboratory, I’m excited to share a little preview of one of my new songs, “Radio,” by the amazing Charlie Mason and Måns Ek. Remixed by Chris Jay.
I’m very excited to be performing Misfit for the Brownville Concert Series this October, and can’t wait to brandish “Padam,” “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” and “Missed Me,” among myriad other tunes of whimsy and despair for a purely Nebraskan crowd! Steven Ray Watkins reappears at the piano, while I supply the toothy neo-Weimar menace. Please visit below link for tickets and further information.
